bishop pair and some compensation. After
19. ... Ng6, Black is committed to
defense for the rest of the game.

Rxf7, 23. Qxg6, with plenty of
compensation for the exchange.

in material, it is difficult for white to
win with just a bishop for a knight,

Throughout the game, Nh4 was threatened
for white, but black has always had the
resource of f5, followed by Bf6. Re1
sets up combinations where the move works
because of the pinned bishop on 37,
although they do not work now: 25. Nh4,
f5, 26. Bg5, Nxh4, 27. Qxh4, Bxg5, but
this combination can be set after white's
26. Bb3+ because after Kh8, at the end of
the combination back-rank mates are
involved.
