Game: WarCraft 3

Story-line wise, this was a good addition to the WarCraft universe. New enemies, epic twists and turns, everything you could expect from Blizzard in that area..though the balance and gameplay is less satisfactory.

Going from two races to four is undoubtedly difficult, and keeping a square balanced as opposed to a triangle more so. Their solution to this dilema was unique, give each race a major advantage, and some minor compliments to that advantage. Against a computer, you feel like your tactics can turn the tide of hopless battles. Against other users, however, is something entirely different. The game doesn’t have the same feeling of chess-like calculation as StarCraft, and battles don’t have that same realistic feel. After all, you can’t say it’s all that pressing to protect your ‘hero characters’ when you can revive them at an altar.

A war that has been in preparation for thousands of years, quests for vengence that leave no prisoners, attempts to survive mindless persecution, this game has it all. Too bad it couldn’t have engrossing battles that feel like desprite clashes against equals..
