At first, I thought that people were exaggerating when they said this was a great game. Then I played it, and the game fits all my qualifications: good gameplay, intricate storyline, a work of art in every way.

You are two people in this game, their time periods distant..but their fates unquestionably linked. A bartender in the year 2012 named Desmond Miles, and an assassin from the year 1191 named Altair. Forced by a mystery group to use a machine called the Animus, Desmond sees through his ancestor’s eyes, watching as the skilled Altair slowly learns more about his enemies and their intentions. Saracen, Crusader, and Templar all fall to his blade with no hesitation, all for the purpose of peace. Yet as each man falls, it seems they’re linked to one another somehow. Desmond is no safer in the present than Altair is in the past. It is mentioned at several times that when he is of no further use, the group that forces Desmond into the Animus will "silence" him. They search for something that Altair hid so long ago.

Some people say this game’s AI is too stupid, that there isn’t enough variety in the gameplay. To a degree that is true, there aren’t that many tricks to learn in the game and single combat is never an edge-of-your-seat deal. When enemy numbers get as high as thirty, however, and you find yourself surrounded..that is when the game’s control style and artificial intelligence give you a thrill that can’t be described. There is also the sense of accomplishment when you reach your target without being noticed, being a blade in the crowd that hits the target unaware. If you ever feel like you’re overmatched by enemy forces, there are multiple ways to hide, most notably the fact that Alair’s uniform makes him look similar to a monk..and when you walk in sync with a group of monks, the enemy will never find you.

Nothing is real, anything is possible..are you capable of upholding the Creed of the Assassins’? If you say you are..perhaps it is just pride leaking from your lips. Prove yourself to the assassins' brotherhood if you truly believe in your skills.
